Tire A

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS

Positive

The community highly regards the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS as an exceptional ultra-high performance all-season tire, frequently praising its superior wet and light snow traction, comfortable ride, and low road noise. While commonly preferred over competitors like Michelin for its value and everyday compliance, some users note trade-offs such as slightly softer sidewalls, minor steering feel loss, initial tread squirm, and occasional balancing or treadwear concerns. Overall, owners enthusiastically recommend it for daily driving, spirited commuting, and versatile year-round capability across a wide range of vehicles.

“I just put them on my 17 Z06. $1190.00 for the set. Huge difference on cold days with regards to traction. I had these on my Chevy SS Sedan for years and loved them. Only complaint is that if the car sits for a couple of weeks you will notice a slight vibration due to low spot until they even out, at least that's what I encountered on the original DSW's. I also noticed since these are not run flats that the bumps are not as harsh, which hopefully will reduce potential rim cracks. That's the hope but with our MI roads it's a never ending battle! Good luck in your decision!”

“I needed a cold weather solution for my Mach 1 HP with CUP2s so I put Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires on a set of the standard Mach 1 wheels and I have been pleasantly surprised by just how capable they are. I usually go Michelin, but decided to try these instead. Amusing amount of grip. Was able to comfortably pull over 1g in straight line braking and in the turns while staying predictable. Kept them on during the summer to see what I thought and although they can't compete with the CUP2s for outright performance, they trump the CUP2s in the rain, and in ride comfort, while providing a staggering amount of performance for an all season alternative. And although they are acceptable, with appropriate driving caution, when a little snow falls and/or when roads ice up a bit, they should not be considered a comprehensive winter tire solution. There are other much better solutions for that like the Bridgestone Blizzak tires.”

“Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus are THE standard for a reason for high performance all-season tires. They have been the best for years and all other brands are only just now catching up to them. If you don't care as much about performance in dry then yeah the CC2 are a fine choice. Personally I deal with bad winters so I run DWS06 Plus as my summer set and then in the winter I switch to my Vredestein Wintrac Pro XL set on dedicated wheels. I run all-seasons in the summer in case we get some early ice/snow before I've swapped sets but nothing beats dedicated winter tires when you need them. Given, I live on a mountain with steep hills and a dirt road, I regularly deal with snow deep enough to high-center the car. If you don't deal with those conditions you can probably get away with all-seasons okay.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
