Best test result: #1 of 8 in 2018 All Road 265/60 R18 4x4 Tyre Test (wet braking)

“My mom's mercedes GLC300 came with pirelli scorpion Verde tires and they have 1/32" measured left on the wear bars after less than 30k miles. My mother drives like a grandma too. They're fine for turns and pep on Florida roads but absurdly short wear time.”

“Have to say, never had an issue with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres, now on my 3rd Tig fitted OEM”

“I have Mercedes GLE 350 2018 with Scorpion Verde 255/50/19 R 107H. Drove 45 K miles in 4 years on it and still have 35% left. Got it slightly damaged on the side but still driveable so i am thinking about changing tires. For the same size, what would be better Michelin Defender2 or Primacy Tour A/S? Prefer quiet/smooth ride/noise isolation/safety.Never accelerate too fast/slalom or overusing breaks. Driving in Los Angeles. Max 80 mph/no quick turns. Thought that Primacy Tour A/S should be better for my needs as above, but read bad reviews (very low usable tire mileage ~ 35000 miles, wobbly, bad when raining) vs great for Defender2”

“I ran them here in Edmonton for the first year on my wifes Grand Cherokee. 20" rims. They were great in the snow and ice. Very sure footed, great stopping, even at minus 40. Second year, they had about 12000 miles on them come winter and they SUCKED. Slip, slide everywhere, squirrelly as hell trying to stop. Put on a set of Michellin ice tires the same size on oem rims I bought used, run the Scorpions in summer. At 25,000 miles, still lots of tread and they work well as summer tires but this one never goes off pavement. Dedicated winter tires make a huge difference. For years I ran Michellin xice on our on pavement cars and suvs year round. They wore faster but the extra traction of the soft compund made a big difference. We can get snow or ice in any given month, including July and Aug especially at elevation in the mountains and high hill areas. It was cheaper to replace the tires a little more often than to swap them over and store the extra set.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
