Best test result: #7 of 16 in 2021 Auto Bild All-Season Tire Test R17 (overall ranking)
“I recently installed Michelins (LT285/70R17) and previously had Yoko Geolandar G015 (LT285/R20). The Michelin is slightly larger than the Yoko. My highway mileage improved about 0.7 MPG (16.5 MPG), but in town mileage is the same at 13.5. The best mileage on my vehicle with OEM tires was 16.7 MPG highway (275/55R20 Hankook DynaPro). My truck is rated for 15/21. Ride quality is night & day difference (i.e. better). My first choice was the Firestone Destination LE, but it is not offered in my size. It rates higher than the Michelin. I spent a lot of time reviewing the Michelin Aglis CrossClimate. The UPS driver's in my area use the Crossclimate 2, which is bidirectional tread without a mileage warranty. The UPS trucks are getting 40-50K on the tires and the driver's love them. The standard Crossclimate is a one-way tread which does not work well for uniform tire wear on a truck. One complaint about Michelin Defender. The tread blocks are in a row with large spacing between treads. The straight line pattern results in tire wallowing on sections of pavement with seams in the direction of travel or on steel bridges.”

Community opinion on the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is overwhelmingly positive, with drivers frequently praising its exceptional wet-weather grip, impressive winter and snow performance, and comfortable ride quality. While a minority of users report mixed experiences regarding road noise, potential MPG/efficiency drops, or limited benefits in mild climates without snow, the vast majority consider it a gold-standard all-weather tire.
“CrossClimate2 in. Alenza Run Flats out. Swapped the Alenza run flats for CrossClimate2 all-weather tires. Sharper handling. Better ride comfort. Very quiet after an initial break-in period. Just make sure the tire pressure is as recommended on the door sill sticker, shop techs don’t always check. I’m an early adopter of CC2 tires, been using them on my old Jeep since 2022, super durable and perfect for inclement weather, still had some tread remaining at the 60k-mile warranty mark.”
“New CrossClimate 2 tires almost stranded my family. Massive efficiency drop on Model Y. Just a heads-up for anyone swapping to Michelin CrossClimate 2s. Put a set on my Model Y about 3 weeks ago from Discount Tire and just did a road trip from Denver to Taos, NM with my wife and two toddlers. We charged up to 90% at the Pueblo Supercharger, and the Tesla app estimated we would arrive in Taos with 15% battery remaining. Well, the new tire efficiency hit is incredibly real. The range dropped so fast that we were tracking to hit 0% and had to make an emergency Type 2 charging stop on the way just to make sure we didn't get stranded with the kids in the car. I’m now seriously thinking about taking advantage of Discount Tire's return policy and going back to the OEM Continental ProContact RX. Has anyone else faced similar problems or massive efficiency drops when switching to the CC2s? Does the range eventually get better after a break-in period, or should I just cut my losses and swap back to the Continentals? I need something reliable for road trips with the family, so I'd love to hear your suggestions and experiences!”
“I live in Vancouver,WA and the CC2 are great for our climate even the light snowfall. I have an SR+, so they’re the 18” version. I have about 22K miles on them after 2 years and have averaged 240Wh/mi since installation, and I don’t drive conservatively. They did increase power usage by about 15-20Wh/mi. I’ve also been lazy and haven’t rotated them and they still are wearing very well. Got about 8/32nd up front and 6/32 in rear. Much better than the stock tires that were almost worn out at 22K. Note that places like Costco will not install these on your Tesla because they don’t meet the factory speed rating. It’s a CYA thing.”

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
