“They're both junk, but the Hankook is particularly poor in wet or snowy conditions. I replaced the Hankook tires on the S MT that my kids drive with Vredestein Quatrac 5s (on some 16 x 7 Passat wheels) and it was well worth the money.”

“I'm a big fan of their tires. I ran a few sets on an old Camry and they performed well in Northeast hills and 4 seasons. I currently have set of Quatrac 5's 225 60 18 on the Outback. Standing water could be better but it is good; dry pavement and traction is excellent; works very well with AWD in the snow. Only issue I've had to complain about is longevity with the softer compounds. But that's also a part of why it performs so well right?”

“Vredestein quatrac 5. Gaat vaker vervellen richting einde levensduur. Als het op 1 plek is en er geen canvas zichtbaar is loopt het niet zon vaart. Aan de andere kant zijn ze aardig op (en begint uitgedroogd/ verbrand te worden) dus zou ik ze binnenkort vervangen. Zeker ni het natte najaar en daarna de winter komt.”

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
