“tire question looking to upgrade my tires, i’m running 315s in the rear and can’t seem to hook up still so i want to upgrade. i’m between the Nt555 g2 and the Michelin pilot sport 4s. the nittos are over a thousand dollars cheaper but ive heard they don’t hook up nearly as good. i’m making 450 to the rear wheel so i don’t know if that applies to me but is the price difference worth it for the michelins.”

Community opinions on the Nitto NT555 G2 are mixed, often positioning it as an affordable, good-looking tire with decent tread life that performs adequately in warm weather. However, many enthusiast drivers note that it struggles significantly with straight-line traction, wet weather grip, and cold temperatures compared to higher-end alternatives like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
“Finally slapped on the widened steelies with 285/40/17 Nittos NT555 G2.”
“Finally got new tires on, NT555 G2s”
“Update: went with the 315 NT555 G2 Just an update after I asked here recently if anyone has or has had these tires. A lot of you suggested to go with the DR’s, but that wasn’t quite what I was after. Soon I would like to get a second set of wheels for the rear and throw the DR’s on those, though. Anyways, here’s them on the car. 315/35/20.”

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
