Best test result: #1 of 9 in 2018 AMS All Season Tyre Test (dry handling)
“A guy on YouTube vlogged his experience with the quatrac 5 in his mirage. It's a good all weather tire for the occasional blast of snow but is by no means a substitute for actual snow tires.”

Higher is better. The Relative Score follows your weights below; category scores do not change.
Weight the categories that matter to you
Wet grip starts at “Important”. Treadwear starts at “Neutral” here: road tests measured it for at most one of the two tires, so it rests on owner reviews. Move the sliders and the scores update instantly.
Only one of the two tires has a score here, so this weight changes nothing in the head-to-head.

Vredestein Quatrac 5
Community sentiment toward the Vredestein Quatrac 5 is largely positive, with owners highlighting strong value, quiet comfort, and capable year-round traction. While recognized as a solid 3PMSF-rated all-weather tire, several users note that it cannot match dedicated winter tires in heavy snow and that tread wear can be rapid due to soft rubber compounds.
“Appreciate the feedback. I never updated this thread! My impressions: The Vredesteins seem to be a great tire for the price, and a decent compromise. Grip was in fact improved once the tires broke in. They can hold onto the road on a dry day in 2nd, but still don't have a snowflake's chance of holding onto the road in 1st. They feel squishier than RE92s - softer sidewalls? They're also getting a bit low on tread a year and a half later, but that's probably more my fault than the tires '. I think I have 15,000 miles on them, and I might get another 10,000, which is with a fair bit of wheel spin and the very occasional smoky burnout. Fuel economy is pretty good - I'm seeing around 55mpg @ 58mph with a 2.4L engine once fully warmed up and in good conditions, and ~50mpg @ 65mph. Frankly, I think I've seen CVT Insights with RE92s do worse.”
“Are these Quatrac5 new ? After 15k miles my rear wheels are struggling to put down traction on damp roads if I am not real gentle on gas pedal on first gear from stop go traffic.”
“After weeks of research I put Vredestein Quatrac 5's on my Q5 - best tire I've ever driven, totally changed the characteristics of the car, for the better. In very cold / near-icy conditions, they were still like driving in the summer. Once my dealer-fit, nearly new, non-RF Continentals are done, I'll absolutely be switching to V'stein Q Pros.”

How do we compare tires?
Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
