Best test result: #1 of 20 in 2019 Auto Bild Summer Tyre Test (dry handling)

“New rubber for the road wheels Pirelli P-Zero RS TLR 30mm, measuring 33mm on 25mm inner rim width. Rides like a dream, but the center thread is narrow, so I'd not feel confident if I raced anything with tighter cornering.”

Mixed

Community sentiment toward the Pirelli P Zero lineup is mixed across both automotive and cycling applications. Users frequently praise the tires for responsive handling, dry grip, and the value of newer all-season variants like the AS Plus 3, but strongly criticize their rapid tread wear, mixed wet-weather performance, and occasional durability issues like sidewall bubbling. Cyclists similarly appreciate rolling speed and comfort while noting significant difficulties with mounting tubeless beads.

“Impossible to install P Zero Race TLR I have Hollowgram R45 carbon wheels on my road bike and went for Pirelli P Zero TLR 700x30 after reading great reviews. The fact is, they are impossible to install. I tried and had two mechanics try and they said it’s absolutely impossible. The tire is too tight for the wheel and there is absolutely no way of putting it on. The wheel is ETRTO standard compliant and has a 21 mm internal canal. Has anyone had any similar experience? I am quite surprised”

“Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 tires - An average driver's review This is a quick review for the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 . I've got a 2022 P2 with the 20" non performance wheels. Decided to replace my original stock Michelin all season tires with something different as I was looking for a bit of a more comfortable ride. These new Pirellis provide a notably softer ride. Almost feels like I'm driving on the 19" wheels. The tires seem as quiet if not slightly quieter than the stock tires. Only have driven 600 or so miles on them so not sure about the efficiency difference. As far as cornering goes, I haven't pushed them to share any real observations. I'm in the States and ordered them through tirerack. I noticed they had two versions of this tire. I purchased the slightly more expensive version (roughly $1400 for set of 4) as I think it was the latest version. This was in June of 2026. Highly recommend these tires if you've got 20" wheels and want something a bit more comfortable in the all season tire category.”

“2024 J1.1 GTS Sport Turismo on 21" Spyder RS wheels here. Went from Pirelli PZero's to NF1 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's recently. They don't seem any louder than the PZero's, dry grip seems about the same, as does comfort. Wet grip and performance in cold conditions (I'm in Scotland, UK) over the PZero's is noticeably better. Very little in the way of the Ackerman effect in cold temperatures, compared to the PZero's which made an awful noise and skipped badly when turning at slow speeds, pulling out of junctions. Will see how they do wear rate wise, PZero's had about 2.5 to 3mm left at 16k miles. Anything approaching that on the ASY5's would be good. Unfortunately on the J1.1 on 21"'s the choice is essentially PZero's or ASY5's. Which is disappointing as I had PS4S's and CSC7's on my previous cars (G81 M3 and M340i Touring) and they were fantastic.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
