Continental AllSeasonContact 2

Positive

Community members generally praise the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 for its excellent wet grip, strong winter and snow performance, and comfortable, quiet ride. While it is widely seen as a top-tier alternative to the Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3, some users have reported concerns regarding premature tread wear, edge cracking, or high noise levels on certain vehicle setups.

“Continental tyres condition after less than a year? Hello, I got these two Continental All Season Contact 2 front tyres fitted Nov 2025 (10 months ago), manufactured in January 2025 (0325) and done about 4-5k miles in them. I started seeing some cracking late this summer on the tread as if it’s deteriorating and falling apart. This is the same on both of them where only one side of the car is actually getting much more sunshine than the other. I don’t imagine this is normal? Especially from Continental, seeing as my other two tyres are budget tyres that are way older and have done tens of thousands of miles and are not at all damaged like this. I contacted Blackcircles because there’s apparently a lifetime warranty for the tyres but they came back to me saying the tyres need to be sent for an inspection that could last 10-12 weeks and I’d need to buy two new tyres from them first. Surely they can’t have the cheek to ask me to buy more tyres when I’m already dissatisfied with their products? This is very inconvenient and renders the so called warranty virtually unusable as it’s extremely impractical. Please can I have some advice? Is this condition of the tyres normal given the circumstances? Could it be that Blackcircles (and perhaps even Continental) were supplied knock off/fake tyres? Thank you”

“Continental AllSeasonContact 2 after ~6000 km. Does this look like the normal wear? The car is MINI Countryman D (U25 chassis). The front tires (photo 1 and 2) seem to develop some excessive deterioration on the edges, to the point that they look like the rubber is peeling off. Or is this normal? Photo 3 is the rear tire for comparison. I’m keeping the cold pressure according to the B-pillar shield values (2.4 bar front, 2.2 rear) or slightly above, depending on the temperature and the duration of the drive - so if any inconsistency occurred, I would expect more wear in the middle instead. Out of these 6k km, roughly 45% were highways, 50% city, and maybe 5% country roads. Read more”

Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport

Positive

Community members generally praise the Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport for its impressive cold-weather grip, wet performance, and overall comfort, drawing favorable comparisons to dedicated summer tires like the Pilot Sport series. While most are thrilled with the handling and daily drivability, some users have raised minor concerns regarding visual tread width appearances, potential lack of OEM star markings for certain vehicle warranties, and isolated manufacturing defects.

z4-forum.com ·2025-09-22

“I recently purchased a set of 799M alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, with the intention of fitting a set of all season tyres to them. Last week I had fitted the rears in the standard 275/35 R19 Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sports and I'm, to say a little disappointed, nay worried by what has been supplied. I'll let the photos do the talking. So to say it looks stretched is an understatement, it really does look like they've been labelled incorrectly and the should be 235/35 R19's as the tread width is about 230mm. However, they have a slight rim protection so they are probably correct. I've contacted Michelin for some re-assurance and have replied quite quickly, stating, that they're not star marked, and to fit Alpine 5's instead! I'm not sure what else to do, I'm not confident that it can be resolved through Michelin. There are not many options for 275/35 R19 all season tyres, Goodyear Vector 4Season. Anyhoo, be warned”

“Japan Racing SL-02 and Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport Today i have mounted Japan Racing SL-02(~9.3kg per rim) and Michelin CC3S on M3P. I have went a size down from 20" and 7cm less offset, but have kept the same rim width. Went with 245/40R19 and 275/35R19. I can already say that the ride comfort is better. Will see about the consumption.”

“Messed up my tyre order, mix of cross climate 3 and cross climate 3 sport!?? I have an E class estate with staggered wheel sizes for the rear. I needed 4 new tyres so went with cross climate 3's they were hard to find for the rears in my size Michelin Cross climate was the only brand that seems to do it in all weather. I didn't notice when ordering but looks like I ordered and fitted cross climate 3 sport to the fronts but standard cross climate 3's on rear. I don't think the non sports were available on the fronts and I don't think the sports were available on the rear either so I've obviously just picked the only availability Michelin all weather tyres on the filter. I know it's fine as they are all matching on the axles but I'm really annoyed at myself as they were not cheap! Luckily I don't have a 4matic E350 just standard RWD What is the difference in theae tyres? Sport vs non sport”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
