Best test result: #1 of 9 in 2024 Tire Rack UHP All Season Tyre Test (snow braking)

“I just switched from the Pilot Sport All Season 4 to the Continental DWS 06 Plus, and the contis are WAY quieter and ride so much smoother than the Michelins. Hopefully they'll last longer too, the Michelins only lasted me about 28k~ miles despite regularly rotating them.”

Tire A

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS

Positive

The community widely praises the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus as a top-tier ultra-high-performance all-season tire, often comparing it favorably to Michelin competitors. Users frequently highlight its exceptional wet traction, comfortable and quiet ride quality, and surprising winter capabilities for an all-season tire. While a few note softer sidewalls or minor balancing quirks, the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive regarding daily driving performance and value.

swedespeed.com ·2024-10-03

“Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus are THE standard for a reason for high performance all-season tires. They have been the best for years and all other brands are only just now catching up to them. If you don't care as much about performance in dry then yeah the CC2 are a fine choice. Personally I deal with bad winters so I run DWS06 Plus as my summer set and then in the winter I switch to my Vredestein Wintrac Pro XL set on dedicated wheels. I run all-seasons in the summer in case we get some early ice/snow before I've swapped sets but nothing beats dedicated winter tires when you need them. Given, I live on a mountain with steep hills and a dirt road, I regularly deal with snow deep enough to high-center the car. If you don't deal with those conditions you can probably get away with all-seasons okay.”

bobistheoilguy.com ·3 upvotes ·2025-01-17

“Yep the set on mine are approaching 5 yrs/50K miles since being put on and tread depth is averaging 4/32". Will be replacing them in the next few months and no doubt will go back with the same exact thing. Definitely the best performing/most even wearing tire I've had on any vehicle for decades regardless of brand.”

r/Porsche997 ·16 upvotes ·2026-10-14

“Got these for a steal I was looking for a 18 inch winter wheels set for my 997.1 S These came up and got them for $650 - full set with tires! Tires are Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus all-seasons - made in 0125 and have 90% thread on them. I was going to donate the tires and buy proper winter tires like Michelin Alpine, but google ai tells me these are better if the roads are clean so I might drive them when I put my summer tires away.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
