Community sentiment toward the Cooper Cobra Radial G/T is generally favorable, especially among vintage vehicle and classic truck owners seeking period-correct raised white lettering. Drivers praise the tire for reliable road traction, longevity, and affordability compared to competitors, though isolated reports note sidewall separation or blister concerns.
“Here's where the tire started separating on the sidewall. Hard to tell, but it's about 1/8 inch deep.”
“i have 4 new ones sitting in my garage. back in all black. says cooper cobra radial G/T. and it has 2 cobra snakes on it”
“I spoke too soon!! I have run cooper cobras in the past for years on my small pickups and they were fine. I just had a cooper cobra split on me on my '66. It's split right along the manufacturer's seam. ***UPDATE: I bought the tires from discounttiredirect. They contacted me and are shipping a brand new replacement tire out!”

The community views the Cooper Discoverer SRX as a quiet, comfortable, good-value all-season CUV/light-truck tire. Owners often report better-than-expected snow traction, stable handling and good wear, with several users recommending it over the Cooper CS5 and Michelin alternatives on price. A few reservations appear: one owner got only about 40,000 miles, and its weight (about 31 lbs) was noted in a lighter-tire discussion.
“Tire recommendations that are lighter than Wildpeaks BLUF: Looking for an off-road capable tire (225/65R17) that doesn't weigh as much as a Falken Wildpeak. I'm aware off-road tires weigh more by design -- beefy treads, blocks, and sidewalls come at a cost weight-wise. That much I understand. That said, Falken Wildpeaks (30 lbs), Geolandar A/T G015s (30.3 lbs), Toyo Open Country A/T III (32 lbs) and even something more mild like a Cooper Discoverer SRX (31 lbs) represent a nearly 25% increase in rotational mass (I think that is the correct term) over the stock Dueler H/P Sport AS tires, and therefore will drag down MPGs and wear on the drivetrain a bit more over time. Is anyone aware of AT or AT-style tires that are fairly close to the OEM tire weight? Did anyone else shopping for tires take weight into account? I'm not in need of something super aggressive, but I do like to take on mild to moderate trails at the local OHV park, as well as the occasional dirt road overloading trip. The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is at least under 30 at 29 lbs, as is the 28 lbs Cooper Discoverer EnduraMax which integrates "all-terrain tire technology" according to the TireRack page. And the Firestone Destination LE 2 only weighs 24 lbs, and the LE 3 is 23 lbs. but I'm not sure how off-road capable those tires are. Thank you, this has been my Ted Talk. Read more”

“I've been running the Discoverer SRX on my 2014 Highlander for the last few years (40,000 miles) and they are still very quiet. Better than I expected in the Winter, too. I used to run dedicated snow tires and knew that an AS tire would not be as good but was pleasantly surprised by the Winter performance.”

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
