“Our '24 Expedition came with General Grabber HTS60's. Terrible tire! Right from the start they were out of balance, dealer was only able to rebalance 3 of them and determined that the right front was bad. They replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3's. I cannot believe how much better of a ride that these offered over the Generals. Ranked just behind the Michelins on Tire Rack. I know that are not available in your size, but just sharing my General Tire experience. My next choice in tire was to go with the Defenders.”

Tire B

General Grabber HTS60

Positive

Community opinion of the General Grabber HTS 60 is largely positive, with owners highlighting its low price, quiet road manners, and strong fuel and electric efficiency compared to all-terrain alternatives. While widely praised as an affordable highway tire capable of light towing, some users note concerns regarding winter grip, wet hydroplaning at half tread, and isolated balance or sidewall defect issues.

“We have 38k miles on our 24 cclb with those tires and about 1/3 of that towing our 5th wheel, the only time I have needed 4wd with the trailer attached was when I dropped the trailer's left side tires off the concrete pad into the sand on a campsite at the beach. Only other time I needed 4wd was when we got caught in a snowstorm when traveling empty. The tires have worn well and are reasonably quiet and ride decent. If you decide to swap them I would be willing to take them off your hands”

“Can’t speak for the specific iron man tires you’re looking at, but Carmax put a set of iMpve Gen 2 AS tires on our 300 when we bought it. In dry weather they were fine, wet they weren’t optimal (never hydroplaned, easy to light up the rear wheels) but manageable… god help you if there was snow. They were also worn to 3/32 in 20k miles. Discount Tire has some General Grabber HTS60’s which seem decent, though about $230 more than your most expensive example. If it were my car I’d throw some BFGoodrich Advantage TA Sport LT’s on it, I’m impressed by those.”

“Not a Lightning tire, but here is a picture of a defective tire I had on my Focus. Tires had less than a thousand miles on them. I know the pressure was good because I constantly check it, and my TPMS light wasn't on. I found the tread section. It rolled past me as I slowed down on the interstate. There were no punctures or deformities I could find.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Community buzz from Reddit and forums is shown for context only — it never changes the score.
