The Continental UltraContact (including the NXT and UC7 variants) is generally viewed as a comfortable, quiet, efficient and long-lasting tire. Several owners and a seller recommend it, citing better mileage and a transformed ride. Reservations include its positioning relative to the PremiumContact (which has better handling and wet performance), doubts about winter and snow ability, and one Tesla owner who was not fully happy with it.

“I'm very curious as well. Can't seem to find any info on the Primacy 5. They say it's better than the 4+ it replaces but noone has tried on a Tesla. I'm currently running Continental ultra contact NXT which is a triple A but not entirely happy. Maybe will go back to the Hankook Ion Evo or Primacy 5.”

“Continental UltraContact or some other tyres? Hello everybody. I live in Athens Greece where the temperatures rarely drops under 7 degrees Celsius (44 Fahrenheit) in the winter. The temperature drops this much for very few days and it never snows here, it just rains. It's a big city but the roads are of rather poor quality. Some mild off-roading occurs from time to time. So I am looking for summer tyres. I now have 4 season tyres but I believe they aren't worth it for the climate we have here. The Michelin crossclimate I have, have proven resistant but very poor on wet road. I am looking for a tyre that can handle driving with some speed, going fast on turns etc. I want a good grip on wet road too. I have a seat leon mk1 with 205/55 R16 tyres. I have found some good reviews on the Continental UltraContact tyres. They seem to offer what I am looking for, but I would love your opinion as I truly have no idea about tyres. Also I seem to find the same tyres in the same price at the XL version. Would that be worth it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Tldr: Looking for summer tyres, good for some speeding, good on wet roads. Read more”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
