Pros, cons & observations

Tire A Eagle RS-A

Pros

  • Excellent price-to-performance ratio
  • Strong dry road handling and cornering grip
  • Reliable tread life for many users, often reaching 60,000 miles

Cons

  • Inconsistent traction in heavy rain or standing water
  • Poor performance in deep snow and ice conditions
  • Increased road noise reported after significant mileage

Tire B Pilot Sport A/S 3+

Pros

  • Dry and wet grip, cornering, and steering response, with many reviewers describing it as close to a summer tire. Wet traction and hydroplaning resistance are especially praised.
  • Large improvement over OEM tires (Pirelli, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Dunlop, Continental) and especially over run-flats, with better ride, handling and often less noise.
  • Good light-snow and cold-weather capability for an ultra-high-performance all-season tire, which lets owners avoid separate summer and winter sets.

Cons

  • Premature treadwear is the most common complaint. Many report 10k–25k miles, rear tires and staggered setups wearing fastest, and some cases of tread chunking, flaking, cracking or dry rot. Many call the 45k warranty unrealistic.
  • Road noise, including humming, droning or roaring around 60–75 mph. It often worsens with wear, and some reviewers say it is among the loudest tires they have owned.
  • Weak snow and ice traction for some owners. Some describe it as unsafe, especially in deeper snow or on RWD cars, and say it falls short of the marketed winter rating.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

Positive

Community members widely praise the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ for its dry handling, wet grip, and substantial improvement in ride comfort over stock tires. However, several users express reservations about its poor traction in genuine snow conditions and note that road noise can become prominent as the tread wears. It is frequently compared against competitors like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 as well as its successor, the Pilot Sport All Season 4.

It would require me to get a 2nd set of tires & wheels for those times of the year. I'm trying to avoid that. At this point, my #1 option is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. My only concern is that they won't handle as well as I'd like, being all season tires. Although, the reviews say that they handle as well as many summer tires. So, I'm going to find out. Again, it's primarily down to the run-flat / non-run-flat decision for me. I'm just not convinced yet that the noise level and ride quality will be the same as conventional tires. I guess I can always exchange them if I don't like them. I'm on my third set of the Michelin PS A/S 3+. I can without a doubt say that they handle very well, but it will feel different under hard cornering, than say, the original F1 Supercar runflats. In my experience, the max summer tires are normally very stiff in the side wall while the all seasons have just a little more give.”

“I have had the Michelin Pilot sport A/S3+ for my last two sets of tires, and I had the hydro-edge before that on my old Toyota. So much grip around corners and good rain performance.”

“I had the OEM Bridgestone Potenza with at least 6/9 thread left on the tires and got rid of them because I didnt like how hard they ride. I ended up getting Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ All Season (245/40/19 and 275/35/19) and its a completely different car now. It rides much smoother and quieter than the Bridgestones. I got them at costco for around 950 installed. They are running an instant 70 dollar rebate on 4 Michelin and 1 penny install per tire.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
