“Not a fan of the LS3 on my Cayenne. They came on the car when I bought it but will replace with Pilot Sport 4 SUV later this year. There are some stretches of road where the surface conditions change and I get a terrible droning noise in the cabin with the LS3. However, in my Cayman with PS4S in the same areas you can barely tell the road surface changed. The wear on both sets is about the same. 2016 Cayenne S e-Hybrid with 21" Latitude Sport 3 (295/35) 2014 Cayman with 20" Pilot Sport 4S (235-265/35)”

Mixed

Community opinion on the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 is mixed, with strong praise for dry traction, wet grip, and reduced road noise compared to OEM alternatives. However, users frequently criticize its relatively short tread life and limited cold-weather capability, with several noting crabbing or rough road droning. Many owners also debate replacing it with newer alternatives like the Pilot Sport 4 SUV.

“I would have gone with PS4 as well. Latitude Sport 3 is a good OEM tire but PS4 handles better, is quieter, has longer tread life and cheaper. It's no contest. Michelin originally made the Latitude Sport line for 20"+ performance SUV tires when the Pilot Sport line didn't go beyond certain weight. Latitude Sport uses the same technology and similar compound as Pilot Sport... basically it was the SUV version of Pilot Sport. But later on, when Michelin came out with PSS to replace PS2, they started making higher weight version on the Pilot Sport line too so it made Latitude Sport kind of redundant. PS4 is the latest version of Pilot Sport so it is the best tire Michelin sells. Latitude Sport 3 is roughly comparable to PSS so about a generation behind in development - still very good tire but if PS4 is cheaper and available, there is no reason to get Latitude Sport 3.”

“My 2020 GLC63 CPO came with the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 summer tires with 6k miles on them. It is getting cold here in PA/NJ and in the parking lot they were starting to crab walk on me, feels terrible. Since I may also get caught in snow and need to get home I decided to go with all-seasons. My tire sizes are 265/45/20 front and 295/40/20 rear. I ordered Pirelli Scorpion Zero All-Season Plus tires. No more crabbing and a much better ride. They look better too. If you will be driving in cold temps I recommend them. They also have a 500 treadwear rating, so they should last a while. The Latitudes at 6k miles were fairly worn. My wife has a 2022 Mercedes GLE350 AMG line appearance package and it has the same Pirellis and rides great.”

“"Install four Michelin Latitude Sport 3 RFT replacing Bridgestone Alenza RFT at 36,300 miles." Calendar entry above. For us, it made all the difference in the world. Retired, so most of our travels are on I-77, I-26 and I-95. Couldn't hear each other talk with the Alenzas. Approaching 50,000 miles now and couldn't be happier. Made an incredible difference in ride comfort and noise. Not sure how many more miles are left on the tires , but they appear to be almost like new. My X3 M40i doesn't have a spare and I'm not comfortable going to a non- RFT since I'm 74 years old and haven't changed a tire in 30 years. Can't understand why Bridgestone continues to sell the Alenza tires or why BMW continues to put them on their performance cars.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
