No owner ratings of noise for e.Primacy or Pilot Sport 5. The owner half is the owners’ average (67): owners’ noise ratings barely follow the road tests, so the tests say nothing about how owners would rate it.

Tire A

Michelin e.Primacy

Mixed

Community opinion on the Michelin e.Primacy is generally favorable toward its efficiency, rolling resistance, and comfort improvements over noisy OEM tires. However, owners and prospective buyers frequently note trade-offs in wet and winter traction compared to performance or dedicated all-weather options. Overall interest remains strong among EV drivers looking to maximize range, though many are still inquiring about long-term durability and cold-weather safety.

“Got the Michelin e.Primacys today - what an improvement! 2019 owner, bought a little over 2 years and 34k miles ago. Have always had the OG Energy Savers and was never happy with their performance as far as grip. After needing my second set of tires in 2 years I wanted something new and knew these were coming because of the new Bolt. Stretched as long as I could on my previous set until I had a close call last week. These popped up at the local tire shop, and also took the chance to swap to the Cruze Eco rims. First impressions (note these are the same size as the factory Energy Savers): Smoother Ride on Rough Roads WAAAAY Less Road Noise, Especially at Higher Speeds Dry Grip is Much, Much Better (not sports car, but if the Energy Savers were 2/10s these are 7/10s) Efficiency Seems Similar (needs more testing, only have ~30 miles right now) Read more”

“I got a bit carried away and looked up the tyre label and Michelin's numbers for rolling resistance, and the weight of a BMW i3 . Short answer: save 6%. Here's the result as a table. RR C kg/t or N/kN mass tonnes Drag N or kJ/km Wh/km Wh/mile unit values 1 1.00 9.81 2.72 4.38 E.Primacy 5.5 1.7 92 25 41 Car tyres (C1) fuel class A 6.5 1.7 108 30 48 Car tyres (C1) fuel class B 7.7 1.7 128 36 57 Car tyres (C1) fuel class C 9.0 1.7 150 42 67 Car tyres (C1) fuel class D 10.5 1.7 175 49 78 class E is anything worse than D The total energy per mile for tyre rolling resistance of a 1.7 ton vehicle running on bottom-of-the-band class B tyres is about 57 Wh/mile, or about 22% of EVDB's broad figure for the i3's total consumption 261 Wh/mile. With Michelin E.Primacy tyres (rolling resistance from Michelin's publicity), that should drop to 41 Wh/mile for the tyres, or a saving of 16 Wh/mile, a range improvement of about 6%, or from 3.8 miles/kWh to 4.1 miles/kWh. Nice to have, but not dramatic. It does show that fuel label class C, D or E tyres are worth avoiding if you can fit better.”

Tire B

Michelin Pilot Sport 5

Positive

The community generally views the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 as an exceptional daily-driving tire that bridges the gap between high performance and everyday comfort. Users frequently praise its outstanding wet grip, low road noise, and impressive tread life compared to more track-focused alternatives like the PS4S. However, some enthusiast drivers feel the sidewalls and feedback can feel a bit numb or soft for aggressive track use, noting it is built more for sporty road use than dedicated circuit driving.

“My 8-month experience with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 – honest thoughts after highway + city use Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 5s about 8 months ago on my Hyundai Creta]and figured I'd share a proper update since I couldn't find many India-based long-term reviews when I was researching. Background: I drive a mix of Delhi–Gurugram highway stretches and stop-go city traffic. Previous tyres were Ceat tyres. Wet grip: This is where they genuinely shine. Monsoon season in NCR was the real test — braking distances felt noticeably shorter than my previous set, and I never had that nervous moment on waterlogged roads near Dhaula Kuan. Dry handling: Confident and predictable. Not much to complain about here. Cornering feel is crisp, especially at highway speeds. Ride comfort: Slightly firmer than my old tyres, which I expected given the performance focus. Not harsh — just different. Long highway runs are still comfortable. Noise: Quieter than I expected for a performance tyre. Road noise on concrete sections of NH-48 is very manageable. Fuel efficiency: Marginal difference — maybe 0.3–0.5 kmpl lower, hard to say definitively. Wear so far: Looking good at 8 months / ~7,000 km. No uneven wear patterns. Would I buy again? Probably yes, especially if wet weather safety matters to you. Price premium over budget options is real, but the wet grip gives peace of mind. Happy to answer any questions. “Should I worry about this? Michelin pilot sport 5, 23k km (14.3k miles) doesn't seem to be that deep, not sure how it happened, looks like I hit a curb.”

“How good are pilot sport 5's in winter? Thinking between another set of ps5's on a new car or cross climate 2. Ps5: wearing really slowly, didn't catch a winter on old car yet Cc2: worn in 4 months to 3mm, very soft in bends causing body roll, really good in last year's snow through, and surface water is a non-issue. Also weird humming doe to tread pattern. I guess the question is, should i risk summer tyres with the odd snow fall we have around here?”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
