How scores work
- Relative score
- 0–100. Blends road tests (60%) and owner reviews (40%) category by category, the same way on every TireWheelGuide page. With only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from it, so the score stays closer to average. It needs at least one road test or five owner reviews.
- Road tests
- 0–100 per score, from published tests, newer tests counting more. Each result is compared with every other tire in the same test, so a win against a strong field counts for more. The average tested tire gets 70, the best 100; with only one or two tests a tire stays nearer 70. The discipline rows show % of the best tire in that test.
- Owner reviews
- 0–100 from the owner reviews we found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates and scaled like the road tests: the average tested tire gets 70. With only a few reviews a tire stays near the average.

The Goodyear UltraGrip 7+ is very well regarded as a winter tire, with reviewers praising its snow, ice and wet traction, its predictable handling and its long service life. Most drivers report confidence in severe winter conditions and many would buy it again. Criticisms are limited to road noise, somewhat vague steering response, and reduced performance once the tread is heavily worn.
Pros
- Excellent snow and slush traction, including on rear-wheel-drive cars such as BMW 1 Series and 3 Series models, which several owners said were transformed in winter conditions
- Strong ice grip and braking, with several reviewers describing the car as controllable and stable on ice and compacted snow
- Very good wet-road grip and stable behavior in cold and wet conditions
- Good durability and tread life, with reports of 5-6 winters of use, around 60,000 miles in one case, and tires staying soft with good grip after several seasons
- Comfortable ride and predictable, communicative handling, with some reviewers noting good side support in corners and stability at highway speeds
Cons
- Road noise is the most common complaint, noted as moderate or 'a bit noisy' by several reviewers, especially on warm, dry roads and in cornering, though some others found them quiet for a winter tire
- Steering response can feel indirect, requiring more steering input before the car responds
- Performance falls off as the tread wears, with one reviewer calling it dangerous at about 5 mm and recommending a maximum of 3 seasons
- Slight tendency to slide at the edges of deep rutted tracks in snow, and some reviewers find the tire relatively expensive
Worth knowing
- Rear-wheel-drive BMWs (1 Series, 320d) feature prominently, with owners reporting a major improvement in snow traction and confidence, although one 320d owner rated it only 'really ok' in snow and slush
- The tire is reported on a wide range of vehicles, including the Audi A4 Avant, Mazda 2, VW Touran, Peugeot 207, Fiat Fiorino van, Citroen and Fiat Punto, with generally consistent positive feedback; a 15-inch Fiorino van fitment showed little wear on the rear tires after 21,000 miles
- Specific tire sizes were not provided in the reviews, so no size-specific conclusions can be drawn
