Best test result: #1 of 11 in 2024 Summer SUV Tyre Test (gravel handling)

“These will be my new tires for this summer. They are newcomer to my wished UUHP "PSS" class, and unlike rest of new tires (MPS4S, CS6, GY F1 SS) that in Europe are available at best starting at 18" sizing (probably due new GRMN Yaris), these Potenza Sport are in 17" size aswell, and are priced surprisingly cheap.”

“My continental premium contact 6’s getting to end or ? I am using these for the last 3 years and drove 46K km on them. Treadwear indicator for 3mm is getting very close. Should I rush or let them run for maybe another 5-10K ? Read more”

Tire A

Bridgestone Potenza Sport

Mixed

The Bridgestone Potenza Sport is widely praised for its sharp steering response, strong dry and wet grip, and attractive pricing compared to competitors. However, community feedback frequently highlights significant drawbacks, including rapid tread wear, poor track durability, high rolling resistance, and a firm ride. While viewed favorably for enthusiastic street driving, drivers caution against heavy track use due to accelerated wear.

“Trying Bridgestone Potenza Sports for summers with simple Spirt Edition A19 wheels Last fall I put Blizzaks WS90s on the stock rims, and had a confident time this winter. I love the stock Mazda rims and intended to swap on a set of performance summer tires. However decide to go with aftermarket wheels that match the stock as much as I could afford, so here they are. 19X8 SPORT EDITION A19 DARK GREY 225/45R-19 BRIDGESTONE POTENZA SPORT I love the look of the new rims maybe even more than the stock now that they are on simple as they are. Will have to see how the tires behave. I may decide to go back to a set of Conti DwS HiPer All-Seasons next year. Read more”

“Bridgestone Potenza Sport Anybody running potenza sports? My rear right tire inside sidewall got shredded suddenly at highway speed (85+ mph). Fortunately I did not lose control and was able to move the car to a nearby school parking lot with a spare. Ordered a set of DWS06+ and they should be delivered tomorrow. The tires are a little more than 4 years old and had about 12k miles on them. Kind of bummed at the situation, but this could’ve been much worse. Are potenza sports generally that bad? Read more”

“Just moved to set a set of CSC7's. 265/35/20 and 305/30/20. They were a really good price. I moved from the Bridgestone Potenza Sport which is also a great tyre, but it becomes unpredicatable sub 12ºC or so, which is a shame. So far, the Conti's have been great and I'm keen to see how they handle the supercharger. The latest reviews of the CSC7 are really good - scooping all the top spots. Sadly the PS4S is old in comparison now, which can be seen in recent reviews with the new Goodyeaar Eage F1 Asymetric 6 and Pirelli P Zero PZ4 often ranking above the Michelin in test scores. That's not to say the Michelin has suddenly become bad - it is still a great tyre, it is just that there are now alternatives out there; most likely why the new Pilot Sport S 5 is coming soon.”

Positive

Community feedback for the Continental Premium Contact 6 is largely positive, with drivers consistently praising its strong wet and dry grip, safety, and braking performance. Some users note softer sidewalls compared to dedicated ultra-high-performance tires and express concerns regarding premium pricing or wear rates. Overall, it is viewed as a capable, high-performing summer tire that balances comfort and traction effectively.

“I had the conti PC6 on my old F56 JCW running 300bhp/324lb-ft. 17" 215/45 Found them great In the wet, although the sidewalls were rather soggy compared to the previous Michelin Supersport, which admittedly are more of a UHP tyre”

“Well having 4 tyres to change on the Polestar 2 at the same time - and the OE spec Continental Premium Contact 6 tyres being $1020 each!!! (wtf are they made from?) I went with Pirelli Dragon Sports - same 99YXL weight rating - higher speed rating. Noise - no difference at all. Efficiency - nothing I can see from a week of driving. The car's trip average kWh/100km hasn't budged. Wear? Well the Contis lasted 22k km on the front and 44k km on the rear so who knows? Couldn't be worse, could it? Traction - same in the dry and I haven't noticed any difference in the wet but haven't been hooning it...Oh - and they were $290 each balanced and fitted.”

z4-forum.com ·2022-09-26

“In the case of summer tyres nope at the part of the market things haven't changed THAT MUCH... But there are now better tyres, smoother, quieter better handling..the Conti Premium Contact 6 on my cars was a noticeable improvement.. Price can be a major variable..not sure how they price out.. Assy 6 and PS5s are both in the same space as the Conti Premium 6.. Again had Assy 5 and it was a very good tyre..the Assy 6 is even better.. Each turn of the design just keeps getting better..the R+Ts are just old designs..things have moved on..BUT NOT THAT MUCH!”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Community buzz from Reddit and forums is shown for context only — it never changes the score.
