“Tire replacement Looking to replace the Pirelli Scorpion Zero all seasons on my ‘23 Volvo XC40 recharge. Are people sticking with the OEM tires or is there another all season tire you would recommend. Looking for similar ride quality with more wear than the Pirellis.”

Tire B

Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season

Mixed

Community sentiment regarding the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season is mixed, with users commending its quiet ride, comfortable handling, and competent wet and snow traction. However, significant criticism centers on poor tread life, rapid wear, and chunking, leading several drivers to explore alternative brands or other Pirelli variants. Additional discussions frequently involve comparisons against OEM setups, the higher cost of PNCS foam-equipped models, and vehicle compatibility.

IMHO, you don't need to worry about noise on the AS+3-generation of Scorpion tires. Pirelli engineered the thread pattern to have many small cuts in the inner-middle patch to disperse the energy across a wider frequency range and thus breaking down the noise. On hwy, the wind noise easily drowns out any tire noise. Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 is said to be quieter than Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive, as per reviews. In that case, even if I go with "Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive", I won't feel much of the difference in quietness of it in comparison to "Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3", and I can go with WeatherActive, as that will better perform in bad weather. Is my understanding correct, practically?”

“My 2020 GLC63 CPO came with the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 summer tires with 6k miles on them. It is getting cold here in PA/NJ and in the parking lot they were starting to crab walk on me, feels terrible. Since I may also get caught in snow and need to get home I decided to go with all-seasons. My tire sizes are 265/45/20 front and 295/40/20 rear. I ordered Pirelli Scorpion Zero All-Season Plus tires. No more crabbing and a much better ride. They look better too. If you will be driving in cold temps I recommend them. They also have a 500 treadwear rating, so they should last a while. The Latitudes at 6k miles were fairly worn. My wife has a 2022 Mercedes GLE350 AMG line appearance package and it has the same Pirellis and rides great.”

“I'm pretty happy with them. they seem to have good grip. Was driving through 1-2" snow with no dramas. I was actually trying to break them loose in the wet and it was more difficult than I thought it would be. I am also stock.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
