It's also surprising that the cost difference from the front the rear was so much different. It was also like that with numerous other manufacturers. I also drive about 24,000 mi a year, so we'll see if they hold up.”

Tire A

Kumho Crugen HP71

Mixed

The Kumho Crugen HP71 (and its EV variant) receives mixed reviews from the community, largely split between appreciation for its affordability, smooth ride comfort, and initial quietness, versus frequent complaints about faster-than-expected tread wear—particularly on heavy electric vehicles—and occasional noise or durability issues.

“Kumho - Crugen HP71 , 245/45 R20 103V Hello guys, I am looking for the above tyre type but unable to get the same any where. The agency has also not found one yet for me. Its for the new Grand Koleos. Any help or suggestions where I can look for it?”

“I bought 4 255/50R19 Crugen HP71 from Tire Rack and had them installed at Tire Warehouse this past Saturday. The installer was skeptical that the front tires would fit but I told them that people have done that before, so he agreed to try. After he put on the front tires and checked he finished the job. I guess he didn't see any potential problem. It's been 3 days and I think the car handles better than before, but it maybe that my previous set was at the 25K miles mark. So far I like them and I think I made the right decision. The total cost (tires & installation) for me was $680 which is almost half of the price if I go to Costco. Also, the rear tires are more expensive than the front ones. The Crugen's are on sale because they are manufactured in 2023.”

“How many miles do you guys get on tires? I had a blowout back in June, and decided to just buy a full set. The shop had a promo on these KumHo Crugen HP71 tires, which had a 65,000 mile warranty. 3 months and 12,000 miles later, my tread is completely gone. I got some Michelins and was credited 185 bucks per tire, but this seems insanely low mileage to wear out the tread completely. I know the added weight and torque of an EV somewhat lowers the lifespan of tires, but even if I was driving like a demon, I don't think 12,000 miles should be anywhere near the lifespan of a reputable brand.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Community buzz from Reddit and forums is shown for context only — it never changes the score.
