Toyo Open Country A/T III
Community sentiment toward the Toyo Open Country A/T III is largely positive, with owners highlighting strong snow and wet traction, durable tread wear, and a comfortable ride. Some mixed feedback centers on moderate road noise over time and stiffness, alongside reports of sidewall vulnerabilities when running lower C-load ratings on rough off-road terrain compared to E-load options. A few discussions also note tire recall inquiries and vehicle-specific fitment questions.
“I upgraded to the Toyo Open Country A/T III, 285-70-17 and in the past 2 months I have got 4 flats. All from the sidewall, today was 2. I air down between 15-19 psi for the trails. Today I purposefully took it easy and had 2 flats. Are these tires junk? Is a KO2 a better stronger choice?”
“I picked up a 24 AT4 on Saturday and swapped out the tires today from the good years to Toyo's. Same size 265/60/20 as factory and what a difference they make. No noise and a softer ride. I got a credit of $130 a tire and negotiated with dealer to give me $500 towards the new tires so not much out of pocket. Highly recommend. Now time for some new shocks which is a pretty daunting research project. Lots of opinions out there, but ranchos seem to be unanimously despised. Thanks forum members for pointing me in the direction of Toyo's.”
“21 trd pro.... tires I need to pick out some new tires on the Tundra, I am leaning on trying toyo open country A/T III. I have historically used BFG KO2s on all my trucks and can't decide if I should stick with bfg and the new KO3 or try out the Toyos. I live in Montana plenty of winter, and I get out in woods as often as I can from what i put together both tires will handle what I throw at them just fine just curious what others have experienced with either tire.”

How do we compare tires?
Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
