Tire A

Yokohama ADVAN Fleva V701

Positive

The community generally views the Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 as a strong, high-value summer tire ideal for daily driving, spirited backroad runs, and wet weather conditions. Drivers praise its sharp turn-in, stiff sidewalls, and dependable grip compared to other budget or mid-tier alternatives, though some debate its lifespan and how it stacks up against premium options like Michelin.

“Suggestiona on tyres Hi everyone, Just wanted to ask if you guys ever had Yokohama Advan Fleva V701. My FK2 has nearly 400bhp and I’m not using it daily anymore as I want it to preserve the baby. My drive is a bit aggressive occasionally but nothing crazy or track day as I don’t have the time. I would like to know if you guys ever had this specific type of tyre. What you think about? They’re actually good? I wouldn’t like to buy again the Michelin pilot sport 4s which I found absolutely rubbish. I found those yoko for the decent price of 98£ each. So I buy it or should I move to Pirelli PZero pZ4 sport ?”

“Online reviews in general are such a crapshoot. So many times you see products with diametrically opposed opinions. It's tough to sift through to figure out what may be true for your own application/situation. I'm sure part of the reason less people buy the Vredestein is brand recognition. Like underscore...I would say I've never heard of them...other than that I have seen their brand as I've been looking for tires to go on my 15" OZ rally wheels. They had a tire in an uncommon 215-50-15. Since you have first hand experience that is positive, that's probably worth more than 99% of online reviews. I'll probably go with Yokohama Advan Fleva v701 in 205-55-15 eventually. I've seen glowing reviews for them and reviews that say they are garbage. I'd like to get Yokohama Advan HF Type-D for their period correctness, and because I just think they look cool ( and isn't that what's most important in a tire? ) ...but they are difficult to get in the States. Well, maybe not difficult, just costly. When I looked on Nengun, it was about $650 for shipping on a set of 4. Most UK & European suppliers I've found won't even ship them to the US. But I'm getting way off topic here.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
