Best test result: #6 of 22 in 2022 Consumer Reports Ultra High Performance Summer Tires (tested tread life (miles))
“I’ve seen lots of posts both on here, and various forums about poor tread life on the stock STi tyres, the Yokohama Advan Sport V105. I made a little video checking the tread around the vehicle and I’ve found so far this is fantastic, 10,000kms in and still with more than 7mm of tread on all four corners. Really interested to know what you’re all getting out of your stock tyres, and if you’ve changed these to anything else? I’m looking at the Michelin PS4S as the next set.”

“Advan Sport V105 does get a good tirerack review: Comes in 205/55-16 (three models. Mercedes W and V speed rated and 2010 Production) $83-86 each Not as comfortable or quiet as other Max Summer tires but handles well in both dry and wet. If you prefer to keep the 205/50-16 tire size then for street use and daily driving with a slightly higher budget: Michelin Premier A/S Grand Touring All Season $132 each 640 treadwear, V speed rated, 19 lbs. Tirerack test result- Good blend of comfort and handling with much longer treadlife.”

How do we compare tires?
Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
