No owner ratings of noise for SportContact 7. The owner half is the owners’ average (66): owners’ noise ratings barely follow the road tests, so the tests say nothing about how owners would rate it.

Tire B

Continental SportContact 7

Positive

The community generally regards the SportContact 7 as an excellent ultra-high-performance tire, praised for exceptional dry and wet grip, direct steering, quick warm-up, and good rim protection. Many rank it at or above the Michelin PS4S and ahead of the PS5 and Goodyear Asymmetric 6 for outright performance. The main criticisms are fast tread wear (often about 10–15k miles), low starting tread depth, softer sidewalls, some tramlining and noise, and poor durability on track.

“I have Continental Sport Contact 7's on my S550 and the are better than the PS4S in my view (plus they stack up well in independent reviews as well)”

“The Tire Rack no longer has the selection with the major name brands it once did. I can order the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 in 225/45R18 from Costco but the Tire Rack doesn't offer it in that size. I can order the Continental Sport Contact 7 at Discount Tire in 225/45R18 but not at the Tire Rack. When my wife and I had a Corolla Hybrid, it took a 195/65R15. Michelin quit offering the CC2 in that size so the next best all-weather tire at the time that fit was the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 750. The Tire Rack never offered that tire but Discount Tire had it in stock locally. None of the tires I mentioned are exclusive tires for certain retailers. I enjoy the Tire Rack website and the testing they do, but they are no longer the go to merchant when buying tires like they once was.”

“The oil and tires question (summer edition) So, I have an EU i30N with GPF (for now anyway) I’m looking for a good summer oil for daily + weekend hooning + a few track days. Ambient temps can reach ~37°C, so I’m considering 5W-30, 5W-40, or maybe 0W-40, over the stock 0W30. Since it's (momentarily) got a GPF, it can't be a full-SAPS oil. Does anyone have any specific recommendations? Next thing is the tires. It's currently on some kind of P Zeros, probably just a later set of the stock model (from the previous owner). I'm looking to put something else onto it (cause I'm fed up with cold understeer and hop), but there's too much choice for me 😅. I know that I probably don't want SC7's because they're reportedly really stiff (despite all of their other pros). The roads are kinda ass where I live and it's already on the limit of my tolerance with the PZs. Read more”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
