“I also live in Michigan and we get plenty of all four seasons. I put CC2s on my 2017 RAV4 Hybrid. They have handled all weather conditions up to and including moderate snow with aplomb. If I had to buy new tires tomorrow, I'd get another set.”

Tire A

Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV

Positive

Community sentiment for the Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV is largely positive, with drivers consistently praising its exceptional grip and safety in snow, slush, and heavy rain. The primary trade-offs frequently cited are reduced fuel/range efficiency—particularly noted by EV owners—along with a premium price tag, directional rotation limitations, and mixed opinions on road noise.

It seems like if I’m already stuck owning Summer tires, I’m better off buying an winter set and alternating, vs owning a Summer a All Season, no? What’s killing me is no one has or can order winter tires this late in the season. it’s really frustrating that the brand new luxury car doesn’t come with all seasons, or some tires that are even safe to opperate where the vehicle was sold. Im literally going to have to rent a a car on cold days to keep my family safe ☹️”

“You got that right! Between my local tire shop and many on here claiming the CC2s was the greatest thing since the forward pass I took the plunge. Last week I took the manager for a ride at the tire shop and he said that’s the complaints he hears about them. He still thinks the noise is worth the trade off in the snow, even though we get next to none here anymore. They’ve been balanced on a hunter and road forced yet still vibrate at 80. When I swap out the CC2s for my lx 25s there’s no vibration whatsoever and next to no sound. The lx25s are one of the ugliest tires I’ve ever seen or I’d just run with them. My goal is to use the lx25s as a winter tire and get pro contacts to replace the Michelins, but, I can’t get the Michelins to wear out. Which is obviously a good thing considering they cost a grand. They went to 7-8/32nds and stalled like a brisket. Meanwhile at almost 2 yrs old they’re getting harder as everyday passes. Worst “premium” tire I’ve ever purchased!”

“Look at all weather tires (3PMSF rated) instead of a basic all season. Michelin CrossClimate2 is hard to beat for safety and snow grip and they’re not that loud in my experience. I put them on my wife’s Highlander and they’ve been smooth and confident in slush and highway rain. If you want something a little quieter and softer riding, Bridgestone WeatherPeak or Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive are also solid. When I priced 245/50R20 CC2s recently, Costco was around $314 per tire installed $1,256 set before tax during a promo, Tire Rack was about $302 per tire $1,208 before install and Discounted Wheel Warehouse had them closer to $279 per tire $1,116 before install so roughly $140 difference on a set before mounting”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
