Best test result: #1 of 10 in 2022 AZ SUV Tyre Test (wet handling)

“Are budget tyres closing the gap to premium? I changed a set of tyres on my daily pd130 winter bash about and managed to get a set of vredestein ultrac for £80 a tyre fitted which I thought was a pretty good price. The tyre fitting service was saying to me that the gap between budgets and premium is much smaller in the last 10 years and that taxis tend to opt for budget tyres all the time and have no issues. Any thoughts on this? I’ve always gone for medium to higher end tyres. Leer más”

Best test result: #2 of 9 in 2024 Tire Rack UHP All Season Tyre Test (overall ranking)

“I went with Superspeed RF05RR 19x9.5 ET33 5x114.3 CB73.1. I liked the RF05RR better than the RF06RR many others have gotten. For tires I got 275/45ZR-19 CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS XL. Yes tire selection is limited, but these had good ratings and I am happy. My reason for going to the 19s was increased sidewall. The ride is so much smoother than the OEM 21s. Much quieter than OEM as well. No plans on track days or anything like that, just daily driving, so grip was not a concern. Yes, the clearance is tight, but they fit. Balance weights have to go on the inside, but not an issue. Have not regretted going to 19s.”

Positive

The community highly regards the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS as an exceptional ultra-high performance all-season tire, frequently praising its superior wet and light snow traction, comfortable ride, and low road noise. While commonly preferred over competitors like Michelin for its value and everyday compliance, some users note trade-offs such as slightly softer sidewalls, minor steering feel loss, initial tread squirm, and occasional balancing or treadwear concerns. “Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus on standard wheel Q4 Prestige Has anybody done something as dumb as I have here? Can you guys share which tires you guys have on your Q4’s? I’ve had the Bridestone Alenza EV tires since I got the car 10 months ago, and I hated the sidewall look, lackluster handling, and their terrible grip in the snow. So I decided to bite the bullet, and get the set of tires I’ve been dying to have on this car since day one. I gotta say, I got the ugliest wheels offered on the q4, but man do the extreme contacts make this car look just a bit more sporty, the tread is aggressive and I don’t hear any increase in tire noise in the cabin which is always fantastic. I drive this car pretty hard and the Bridestone Alenza’s couldn’t hold up to my driving habits. The only downside I’ve encountered was feeling a bit more resistance from the car while cruising since EV tires have low rolling resistance in mind, and I know I will get less range from the tires. But cmon it’s hard not to absolutely love these tires on such a boring looking mom car.”

“I replaced my Goodyear tires with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus about a month ago. I live in South Florida so I cannot say how they would handle snow, but they are great for dry and wet traction. Just did a 900 mile road trip and the new tires make my Honda Civic Touring feel like a different car. So much quieter and smoother than before. Tires handled hours of rain at highway speeds beautifully. At one point the highway was covered in so much water that an SUV next to us started hydroplaning and ended crashing into the dividing wall, but we were able to just slow down a little a continue driving. I think they are worth the money. Maybe wait for a good rebate deal from Continental . Good luck!”

“235s Factory Michelin Pilot Sport PS4s —> 245s Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 Plus Just a quick first impression after changing from stock Summer tires 235/40/18 dimensions to 245/40/18 all season tires. I chose to take a chance and up the tire size/change the compound hoping to not sacrifice too much driving feel. As many are already aware, this 245 tire size is standard for the Morizo Edition*. Overall, I do not regret changing the tire size. Drive 9/10. Looks 10/10. A very small amount of steering feel was lost, but not enough to take away from the experience. If the car was a “track” setup I would stick with stickier performance tires or stock Michelins… but for a daily driver, the Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 Plus tires in the 245/35/18 dimensions suits the GR Corolla MUCH better in my opinion. The drive is smoother just cruising (does not feel as bouncy over bumps) and tire noise is virtually non existent. The slightly larger sidewall also gives a little more peace of mind on crappy NY roads, pot holes etc. (I have had to plug the stock Michelins 4 times in the last 15 months). Will add more impressions later on if I can give more feedback. **Have not confirmed if speedo accuracy improved or got worse**”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Community buzz from Reddit and forums is shown for context only — it never changes the score.
