Tire A

Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015

Positive

Community sentiment toward the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 is predominantly positive, with owners highlighting its quiet highway manners, strong snow and wet traction, and good light off-road capability. Criticisms primarily center around a slight 1–2 mpg fuel economy loss, potential ride harshness or softer P-rated sidewalls depending on vehicle application, and gravel retention in the tread. Many drivers consider it a balanced all-terrain tire suited for predominantly on-road daily driving with occasional trail use.

“I just put the G015 's on 2018 Outback . The harsh ride hurts my wife's back. I will trade them in for something that is mostly for a smooth ride. It's funny, I put the LT version on my Expedition and it's great. I suppose the shock valving is way different between the 2 vehicles. I just hope Yokohama 's 30 day trial is for real.”

“Changing tires (General Grabber AT3 vs Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015) Halloo I am about to pick my RR next month from the dealer and I am thinking if it is a good idea to change tires. Here is the context: I am buying the RR because I always wanted to drive a truck and I love American cars in general (I also have Mustang s197 V8). In fact I want to switch from Wrangler Sahara, which is a great car BTW, however after 4 years and only 20.000 miles I know I miss more comfort. The rest of my family even more ;-) 95% of my trips is on reagular roads, city cruising. Sometimes some rural paths (no heavy offroading). My Wrangler came with Duelers, which I replaced with Yokohama A/T G015. The difference was night and day as far as wet and cold. Here in POLAND we have two seasons: it is either hot and wet or cold and wet. Winter in my area is pretty light, however I go to the mountains once a year. So the question is: As I do not know how General Grabber AT3 works, but I trust Yokohoma G015, is the change the tires worth it?”

ramforum.com ·2016-06-29

“Upped the pressure to 43 PSI for a 1000 mile drive, still suffering about a 1-2mpg penalty but that could also have been due to the higher speeds (west TX speed limit of 80 mph). Got 'em off road on the rocks and they're obviously loads better than the stock SR-As out there. We'll see how they handle mud soon enough. Have 5K miles on these things so far and am satisfied. I'm not super happy per se but I'm satisfied. Jury's still out on whether I'd buy again. Will report back in another few thousand miles.”

Tire B

General Grabber A/TX

Positive

Community sentiment toward the General Grabber A/TX is largely positive, with owners frequently praising its winter traction on snow and ice as well as its quiet highway ride. Buyers appreciate its availability in lighter standard load ratings and competitive pricing compared to rivals like the BFG KO2. Minor drawbacks cited include fuel economy loss with heavier LT versions and a tendency for the tread to pick up and fling gravel rocks.

“Tire recommendations! Current 215/75R-15 GENERAL GRABBER A/TX SL I am going to need new tires and I am wondering if I should buy a different tire than what I currently have. Overall these tires have been great and drive pretty well in the snow in VT and NY. Drive NJ roads year round aswell. Any recommendations?! Much appreciate any advice!! Read more”

“I've got just over 10,000 miles on my General Grabber A/Tx's and I love them. For the terrain I cover, they are great. If you're looking for a mud tire, these aren't going to clean out very well (probably similar to an average A/T like a BFG KO2). But in the deep snow and ice, they've been great. They are also amazingly quiet on the highway, and on loose dirt/gravel they have done really well. I don't have enough miles to tell you how long they will last, but going off how they are wearing right now, I'm optimistic I can get 40,000 miles out of them (I rotate my tires every 4,000 miles).”

“Got tired of my stock tires looking undersized with my 2" level, so I finally put new ones on last week. I had KO2's on my last truck and was planning on going with them again, but I couldn't find the size I wanted at a decent price locally. I started reading reviews on TireRack and the General Grabber A/Tx gets the highest rating. I really liked the look and price, so I had my local Tire Discounters get me a set. These things are awesome. Very quiet and a smooth ride. I went with the LT285/60 20's (33.5") and they really fill out the wheel wells like they should.”

How do we compare tires?

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.

Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
