Community opinions on the Kumho Crugen HP71 (including EV variants) are generally mixed, primarily leaning on price and initial comfort versus longevity. Many users appreciate the affordable pricing, quiet/smooth ride, and good handling, but a significant number report faster-than-expected tread wear and occasional issues with foam lining separation or durability on heavier vehicles.
“Kumho warranty I had these for a little under 18 months. The thread is still good, but the tires have these cracks. Do you guys think I can claim warranty from Kumho? These are Kumho Crugen HP71. Manufacturing date 01/24.”
“Tesla model y tire HP71 crugen on tirerack is offering $80 rebate per tire.”
“Bought a set of Kumho tires to replace the OE Michelins on the wife's Ford Edge. The Michelins have barely 35K and aren't going to pass the NC safety check. For being a top tier tire they were wildly mediocre. I've has several sets of Kumho and they are better than average and not too expensive. I bought four of these. Anybody have experience with Kumhos? Kumho Crugen HP71 245 /60 R18 105V SL BSW”

Every category score blends two independent signals. 60% comes from professional tire tests (braking distances, lap times, noise measurements), each result compared with every other tire in the same test and newer tests counting more. 40% comes from owner reviews found online, adjusted for how generously each site rates. Both use one scale: the average tested tire gets 70, the best 100. When a tire has only one of the two, the missing half is estimated from the other and the score stays closer to average; with no road test and fewer than five owner reviews it gets no score yet.
Handling is the exception: road tests measure it inside the dry and wet scores, so its own row comes from owner ratings only and starts as less important.
